Thailand merupakan juara edisi 2005. Meski begitu, tentu Timnas Indonesia U-22 tak akan gentar. Pasukan arahan pelatih Indra Sjafri ini tentu sudah menyiapkan diri sebelum beraksi di final.
Apalagi, permainan Timnas Indonesia U-22 diyakini mengalami peningkatan dalam setiap pertandingan yang sudah dijalani.
Meski begitu, Tim Merah-Putih tetap harus waspada, tak boleh memandang enteng lawan, terlebih yang akan dihadapi adalah Thailand, satu di antara basis kekuatan sepak bola di Asia Tenggara.
Bersama pelatih asal Brasil, Alexandre Lima, yang ditunjuk sebagai arsitek tim pada awal November 2018, Timnas Thailand U-22 belum tersentuh kekalahan serta kebobolan dalam waktu normal pertandingan selama Piala AFF U-22 2019.
Thailand menang 1-0 dan 3-0 masing-masing atas Timor Leste dan Filipina, bermain tanpa gol kontra Vietnam, serta menang 5-3 dalam adu penalti atas Kamboja (0-0) di semifinal.
Seperti halnya Indonesia, Thailand juga pantas melaju hingga final. Alhasil, partai puncak Piala AFF U-22 2019 bisa dibilang laga ideal.
Secara khusus, pelatih Indra Sjafri meminta agar lebih banyak lagi suporter Tim Garuda yang terbang ke Kamboja untuk mendukung langsung tim asuhannya pada partai final. Atau, bisa membantu melalui salat tahajud dari Tanah Air demi keberhasilan Timnas Indonesia U-22 memenangi Piala AFF U-22 2019 untuk kali pertama.
