Menurut pengakuan administrator Timnas Indonesia U-22, Ricky Riskandi, Indra Sjafri memiliki kebiasaan untuk melakukan salat subuh berjamaah di Masjid Al Serkal selama di Kamboja. Lokasinya yang tidak jauh dari hotel Timnas Indonesia U-22 menginap menjadi pertimbangan Indra Sjafri untuk salat berjamaah di masjid.
"Coach Indra Sjafri selalu Salat Subuh di masjid belakang. Biasanya setelah Salat, beliau langsung melakukan jalan pagi,” kata Ricky ketika nongkrong bareng Bola.com dan wartawan lainnya di Phnom Penh, Senin (25/2/2019).
Konsep beragama memang selalu dilakukan Indra Sjafri ketika menukangi Timnas Indonesia U-22. Contohnya adalah ketika ditanya mengenai peluang timnya ketika akan bertanding.
"Kalau di Asia Tenggara kami harus yang terbaik. Tidak pernah berubah. Akan tetapi, yang mementukan bukan manusia, Tuhan yang menentukan. Kami hanya berusaha. Lihat usaha bagaimana para pemain latihan, kerja keras. Kalau Tuhan berkehendak lain maka kami harus terima,” ucap Indra Sjafri sebelum Piala AFF U-22 bergulir.
Selain itu, setelah Timnas Indonesia U-22 memastikan satu tiket final Piala AFF 2019, Indra Sjafri juga berpesan agar para suporter yang datang ke Kamboja atau yang berada di Tanah Air untuk selalu berdoa. Tak lupa, Indra Sjafri berpesan agar para suporter melaksanakan Salat Tajahud untuk kesuksesan Witan Sulaeman dkk.
"Saya mengimbau untuk suporter agar datang langsung ke Kamboja untuk mendukung Timnas Indonesia U-22 di final nanti. Untuk yang berada di Indonesia, jangan lupa salat tahajud, berdoa untuk kami," kata Indra Sjafri.
